It's Madeira and we have never seen so many. Grown in abundance and every home has at least one banana plant. Amazing.
And there are steps up into the mountain and hillside for access for picking. Incredible.
Yep! We've gone bananas!
We eat them at home, but here, in Madeira, they look and taste slightly different. For starters, if you worried about how they looked, as we seem to in UK, you wouldn't eat them. Put it this way they wouldn't win any competition for looks.
But the flavour is another thing entirely. Sweet and very, very delicious.
The flowers on the plants look a little like dinosaurs don't they?
