Things happen, that's life and we can choose to grow stronger or give in.
As the saying goes:
I have no idea who said this but it is so true.
I thank the Lord I've been blessed
With more than my share of happiness
It's OK to give yourself a moment
But hey, to give in sometimes is ok, we're only human. It's ok to take time out and have a bit of a think.
Don't take too long. Always make sure you pick yourself up and start all over again. There's a whole lot of life out there worth living.
Memories
I have had reason to look through old photos old memories. In the old days, I probably would have shed a few tears. But today they made me smile.
Stronger or wiser
Am I getting stronger or wiser? I suppose a bit of both. But when I do have a moment I now take time out for myself with my 'bag of happiness'! :)
When the sun is shining out in the garden I go with my bag, like the bag lady.
I sit on one of my favourite seats in the garden. Yes it's a bit rusty and Malcolm keeps saying it needs coating with something to stop it getting worse. I prefer it as it is, a bit rusty like me. I throw a cushion on it and take a cuppa with me.
What's in the bag?
In my 'bag of happiness' is
- A tapestry that's taking me rather a long time to do, probably because, luckily, I don't have many down moments :)
- A bit of knitting - I can watch the birds in the garden when I'm doing that
- My Jamie Oliver book 'YOU' - daily micro actions for a happier, healthier you. It's a great book to pick up, flick to a page and you'll always find a useful tip.
- My Maeve Haran book 'Froth on the Cappuccino' - how small pleasures can save your life so very apt for my time out :) Actually I used to love her novels but don't think she has written any for a while :(
- A few old and new photos that make me smile and even chuckle
- A couple of note books
- Finally my little tin camera bought for me at Christmas by my grandchildren. It contained fudge, now all gone. 😋 Now contains my sewing scissors, tapestry needles and pencil for the notes I like to make for my next blog when I've stopped overthinking things!
Oh and by the way the bag is probably 30 years old so also has some sentimental value for sentimental ol' me.
And what do I mean by a Doddie moment?
Happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possessI thank the Lord I've been blessed
With more than my share of happiness
And what better way than to end the blog with this image. It always amazes me every year in Lymington - the splendid Magnolia tree in a garden I walk by when I go to the High Street - what a wonderful world we live in.
What do you do to cheer yourself up?
Hey, the sun is shining. The bag lady's off to sit on her seat :)
